15/7/16 Cirque de la Symphonie, Melbourne

Cirque de la Symphonie brought the magic of cirque to the concert hall, with the elegant adaptation of some amazing circus acts  performed on stage with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO). The performance showcased many of the best artists of the world – aerial flyers (Alexander Streltsov and Christine Van Loo);alexander streltsov

acrobat (Vitali Buza); vitali buza

juggler,Vladimir Tsarkov (Vladimir Tsarkov); elena tsarkova jarek and darek balancer (Elena Tsarkova) and strongmen (Jarek and Darek).

I love the music conducted by Benjamin Northey (who by the way, got right into the spirit of the circus performance!) – and the selection of music was outstanding. I got to hear composers I had heard of, but had not listened to before – Smetana, De Falla, Khachaturian, Glinka and Respighi. Fabulous!

10/7/16 Bergerac, Perigord

My last day in France this time around ……..we walked through the town and saw a christening celebration…what a powderpuff of a costume for this little gal, I’m sure the DSC03361photos of this event will stay with her FOREVER!, poor kid…then a lovely patisserie, where I purchased some macaroons for Diana back in London. DSC03355DSC03368

The town contains two statues of Cyrano de Bergerac, subject of a famous play of the same name by Edmond Rostand, though the actual Cyrano never lived in Bergerac. I captured the newer statue, unusual in that it is painted in colour and stands on a stainless steel pedestal, has been erected on Place Pelissiere. A lovely art installation of pDSC03366DSC03362lants growing out of a dresser as well in a nearby garden…and then we have lunch…mine being the ‘brochette’ of chicken. YUMM!
